Poetry
Alchemy
Merging moments of liquid gold
Melting ancient mountains
Of the soul
Each time so fresh
And yet so old
I have written poetry since I was a child. I remember being struck by the light shining through a spider’s web on a frosty winter morning and sitting in the garden to capture the image, making myself both very cold and late for school in the process! I could describe this process as painting with words. Most of my poetry emerges from being inspired by a particular moment in nature, or a visceral, cellular memory that has arisen in response to the here and now. Capturing a moment that has already gone and yet still in some way remains accessible and embodied on the page.
I write every day, integrating the poems into my work as a psychotherapist and celebrant. In my experience poetry can be offered and received as medicine for the soul. In support of the healing qualities of poetry, it is a passion of mine to encourage the emergence of the poet within us all. I have led nature-based poetry workshops for many years, notably ‘Poetry at the Plot’ at Plot 22 Community Garden in Hove. I have also performed at a wide range of venues including Brighton Fringe Festival, Into the Wild and an arts exhibition in Venice.
Simply Elemental, my first collection of poetry, was published over the Summer Solstice of 2026 and is available from July 2026.
