Trust

Everything is changing
Nothing stays the same
That’s the natural way of things
Nothing is to blame

Warmth now feeling colder
As sunshine turns to rain
Trusting in the knowing
That spring will come again

Our ancestors would celebrate the return of the sun as they followed the rise and fall of the seasons and the growth of crops needed to survive. Following this ancient tradition I have co-created ceremonies for individuals, couples, groups and communities for many years based on the Celtic Wheel of the Year. These ceremonies reflect the dynamic emergence of the elements, the earth, air, fire, water and space within us.

As a celebrant I have led funerals, weddings and memorials. Life is constantly changing. There are other changes and transitions that also need to be marked and honoured between the cradle and the grave. These have included communal grief and remembrance ceremonies, vision quests, naming ceremonies, moving house, honouring the end of a relationship, moving into puberty, mid-life, birthdays, letting go into the unknown, entering menopause, becoming an elder, becoming a parent and many more.

A year course

The Call of the Celtic Cauldron

In response to many of the women I work with who were entering perimenopause and/or in menopause I have created a year-long course meeting every six weeks on the change of the seasons as mapped by the Celtic Wheel of the Year. These six-weekly gatherings provide witness to the rise and fall, death and rebirth of fertility within the changing landscape of a menopausal woman as we hold the burning question “What are we Birthing Now?” At the end of the year, each woman is honoured as she steps through a literal and symbolic gateway into the new now.
